Commonwealth is looking to bring a diligent and dedicated chief risk officer into the organization, someone who will take a proactive and reasoned view to all areas of risk within the firm. You will play a critical role in policy- and decision-making, working closely with our Compliance, Internal Audit, Technology, Finance, Operations, and Information Security teams to set the strategic risk management vision for all to uphold. By ensuring that our risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with industry regulations and standards—and in alignment with our strategic vision—you will be protecting the integrity of our business decisions, practices, alliances, and more.

• Collaborating with leaders in Compliance, Legal, Finance, Technology, Operations, Contract Management, and Information Security to develop, communicate, and maintain corporate policies and programs directed at mitigating risk
• Chairing the firm’s Enterprise Risk Committee and effectively presenting, with credibility and presence, to the firm’s Executive team
• Evaluating and articulating the firm’s evolving risk posture in clear and concise terms to senior management
• Leading, managing, and developing the Enterprise Risk team, including Internal Audit
• Managing and enhancing the processes, tools, and systems used to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor, and report risks
• Monitoring areas where risk is identified and working with all stakeholders to mitigate and eliminate risk
• Partnering with the Technology and Operations teams to improve risk-monitoring tools and processes
• Staying up to date on regulations and trends that affect our industry; performing risk analyses and providing early warnings to executive management
• Refining risk-based measurement and reporting metrics and communicating vulnerability findings
• Fostering a risk-aware culture within the firm

• 10+ years of experience in risk management
• Financial services experience, particularly in a Registered Investment Adviser–broker/dealer environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A positive attitude; able to lead and motivate staff and work effectively with colleagues across the organization
• A keen sense of judgment, as well as a thorough, analytical, and frank approach to decision-making
• Demonstrated leadership skills; able to implement new processes with limited supervision
• Experience presenting complex material in a clear way; identifying business tie-ins and requirements
• Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to the Registered Investment Adviser–broker/dealer business
• Able to work independently, set priorities, and deliver results
• Strong project management and relationship management skills
