  • Overview

Commonwealth Financial Network® is the largest privately held Registered Investment Adviser–broker/dealer in the U.S., with offices in Waltham, Massachusetts, and San Diego, California. Since 1979, we’ve been helping our field force of independent financial professionals help investors pursue their financial goals. We do that by providing them with the technology, research, resources, and support that allow them to keep their focus on what’s most important: investors and their financial objectives.

With that said, we are not your typical financial services firm. For starters, we’re a fast-growing company, and we think and have fun like a start-up. Conveniently located on the commuter rail near the intersection of Route 95 and the Mass Pike, we’re accessible from anywhere—and away from the congestion of a downtown commute.

Commonwealth recognizes that our people are our greatest asset by investing in training and professional development. As a result, Commonwealth has been recognized 38 times (and counting) as one of the Best Places to Work by top publications in the region (Boston Globe, Boston Business Journal, San Diego Business Journal, San Diego Union-Tribune), as well as in the IT industry (Computerworld). With high marks in areas such as work environment, work/life balance, job satisfaction, and opportunities for advancement, Commonwealth is a place where you can thrive.

    About the Opportunity

Building relationships with financial advisors at regional and wirehouse firms—both by cultivating new relationships and by expertly managing existing ones—is at the heart of this opportunity. This role will have you articulating the value proposition of true independence that Commonwealth offers, ranging from the advisor’s brand, to client selection, to product offerings and compensation. In true consultative spirit, you will help these advisors see the benefit of growing their business and their brand on their terms by affiliating with Commonwealth.
If you think you have what it takes—including experience as a wirehouse-focused recruiter and a demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding performance expectations—then let’s introduce ourselves.

    • Building a pipeline and recruiting qualified financial advisors, specifically from wirehouses and regional broker/dealers
    • Partnering with the manager of field development to establish recruiting goals and solutions; generating leads from a number of sources, including proactive outbound contacts, referrals, and firm marketing and advertising
    • Determining prospective advisors’ suitability based on their current business and cultural alignment with Commonwealth’s value proposition
    • Communicating and upholding Commonwealth’s value proposition in the marketplace
    • Preparing and delivering presentations to qualified prospective advisors, highlighting Commonwealth and all of its offerings, including technology, compliance, and indispensable service
    • Coordinating and hosting advisor visits to our home office and traveling to prospective advisors’ offices
    • Representing Commonwealth at trade shows, conferences, and seminars
    • Capturing recruiting activity in our contact management system

    • 5+ years of experience recruiting advisors from a wirehouse to another channel is required
    • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding performance expectations evidenced by a history of developing relationships and successfully converting GDC and AUM from wirehouses
    • Undergraduate degree or 6+ years of comparable work experience; educational concentration in finance or marketing preferred
    • Ability to communicate effectively with potential Commonwealth advisors regarding production, advertising, compliance, technology, wealth management, operations, and practice management
    • Comfortable with longer-term sales processes
    • FINRA Series 7 and 24 securities registrations preferred, but not required
    • Able to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels to accomplish objectives
    • Strong focus on customer service, flexibility, attention to detail, organization and prioritization, and ability to multitask
