  • Overview

We are not your typical financial services firm. For starters, we’re a fast-growing company with 30 percent of our employee head count in technology. We’ve been recognized as a Best Place to Work 38 times (and counting), and Computerworld has ranked us highly nationwide for the past 11 years as one of the best places to work in IT—and for good reason. We think and have fun like a start-up (bocce tournament, annual turkey fry, summer outing, etc.) yet have the financial stability to offer you the best training and technology money can buy. Conveniently located on the commuter rail near the intersection of I-95 and the Mass Pike, we’re accessible from anywhere—and away from the congestion of a downtown commute.

Discover what it’s like to be psyched to come to work every day! We offer you:

    • Fully paid maternity leave (12 weeks) and spousal leave (3 weeks)
    • An opportunity to participate in our Idea Lab, a fun and dynamic program that lets us dedicate time to experimentation
    • A more relaxed, “dress for your day” dress code
    • A free on-site fitness center
    • Ample opportunity to volunteer with and support local charities

    About the Opportunity

Are you a self-starter with a can-do attitude? A creative problem solver with strong analytical skills? Our Project Management Office team, within our expansive Technology department, is looking for a junior QA engineer with these qualities—and more. Your days would have you working closely with stakeholders to write and execute manual test cases and report on the results in a Microsoft environment with multiple complex projects.

Our workplace environment is fast paced, so the ability to stay flexible, be proactive, and give and take direction is essential. If you have a year or two of testing experience in technology, coupled with exposure to financial services and/or trading—and your problem-solving and analytical skills are top notch—then let’s introduce ourselves.

    • Working with the QA lead and project team on a daily basis
    • Writing test cases and plans; reporting, analyzing, and tracking defects
    • Assisting with software releases
    • Working closely with other QA members, Development, and stakeholders
    • Participating in team standups, planning, and other meetings
    • Working with the QA lead to design test scope, approaches, and strategies
    • Creating test plans, scenarios, and cases and reviewing them with entire team
    • Designing or locating necessary test data
    • Ensuring that appropriate tests are executed, both during development and upon deployment
    • Collaborating with the team to identify areas of high risk and the root causes of problems
    • Working with all team members to detect, prioritize, and fix defects
    • Developing and implementing process improvements with the team
    • Providing appropriate status and risk assessment for management
    • Supporting other teams’ periodic requests for data and/or testing assistance

    Qualifications

    • Experience within financial services, preferably with exposure to trading
    • Experience within a software or web development team, including 1–2 years of testing experience in technology
    • Experience participating in an Agile development environment (attending team standups, grooming, planning, and other meetings)
    • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills
    • Strong math skills
    • A desire to learn new technologies
    • Strong manual testing with SQL; proficiency with SQL queries (1–2 years of experience)
    • Experience working in a Microsoft environment—particularly bug-tracking in TFS
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to complete assigned tasks in order to meet team goals and deadlines
    • Flexibility to adapt and succeed as priorities and requirements shift
    • A willingness to pitch in on urgent production support requests, as needed
    • A desire to work collaboratively with a supportive Scrum team
    • The ability to grow into working independently and taking responsibility for the testing of a feature or product

Experience with the following would be a plus:
