As a practice management associate consultant, you will lead introductory practice management sessions with financial advisors and provide support to senior practice management consultants. This position is ideal for an analytical, creative problem solver who wants to have a lasting and positive influence on the success of small businesses.


The Practice Management team serves as a strategic partner to Commonwealth advisors, helping them build healthy and growing businesses. The team offers consulting services and programs to support advisors across a broad range of business issues, including strategic planning, leadership, human resources, scale and efficiency, growth and marketing strategies, succession and continuity, acquisitions, financial benchmarking, and ensemble formation. This role provides an exciting opportunity to learn from a team of seasoned consultants and industry experts.


Key responsibilities

  • Engaging with advisors on introductory practice management issues
  • Responding to incoming advisor and staff inquiries via phone and email; frequently coordinating across internal departments
  • Conducting state-of-the-business calls to proactively address advisors’ business goals and challenges, help them better leverage Commonwealth’s offerings, and solicit feedback about their overall relationships with Commonwealth
  • Building quantitative Excel reports for advisor engagements that track financial benchmarks and client segmentation analyses
  • Supporting senior consultants by joining state-of-the-business engagements with top clients and drafting meeting summaries for distribution to the internal leadership team
  • Assisting senior consultants with projects and research initiative to enhance advisor resources and thought leadership
  • Organizing and preparing site visits for senior consultants, observing and participating in the visits, taking notes, and managing follow-up items (periodic travel required)

Additional skills and knowledge

  • 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry
  • Bachelor’s degree required (strong desire to pursue an MBA in the future)
  • FINRA Series 7 securities registration a plus
