  • Overview

We are not your typical financial services firm. For starters, we’re a fast-growing company with 30 percent of our employee head count in technology. We’ve been recognized as a Best Place to Work 39 times (and counting), and Computerworld has ranked us highly nationwide for the past 12 years as one of the best places to work in IT—and for good reason.

Our firm is committed to technology and wants to be the best at what we do. Bring your passion and come to work at a place that values your talents! We think and have fun like a start-up (bocce tournament, annual turkey fry, summer outing, etc.) yet have the financial stability to offer you the best training and technology money can buy.

Conveniently located on the commuter rail near the intersection of I-95 and the Mass Pike, we’re accessible from anywhere—and away from the congestion of a downtown commute.
Discover what it’s like to be psyched to come to work every day! We offer you:

    • Generous bonus and stock option incentive plans
    • Use of our chairman’s vacation properties (Cape Cod, Lake Winnipesaukee, Sunday River, Key Biscayne, Las Vegas, Park City, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic) at no cost
    • Fully paid maternity leave (12 weeks) and spousal leave (3 weeks)
    • An opportunity to participate in our Idea Lab, a fun and dynamic program that lets us dedicate time to experimentation
    • A more relaxed, “dress for your day” dress code
    • A free on-site fitness center
    • Ample opportunity to volunteer with and support local charities
    • A VTO (volunteer time off) day to use toward a cause that’s important to you
    • Tuition reimbursement
    • Free breakfast on Fridays
    • A competitive benefits package—and much more

    About the Opportunity

Come work in an environment that values your opinion and prides itself on getting things done. Get away from the bureaucracy of a large company and be a part of our talented 45-person team of engineers and administrators. We’re just the right size for you to make an impact, yet we’ve got the support of a privately owned, 950-person company with a track record of success. Common sense prevails as we design, build, and support our local and wide area networks, Internet infrastructure, imaging, and phone systems, along with all infrastructure-related hardware and software.
We are looking for an experienced systems engineer—someone who can maintain, implement, and ensure exceptional performance and reliability from Commonwealth’s server infrastructure and core systems—to join our team. If you are intimately proficient in the architecture and administration of Microsoft Exchange and savvy with a variety of other systems (including Proofpoint Spam Detection solution, Microsoft Lync, and Veritas Enterprise Vault), then let’s introduce ourselves.

    • Planning, testing, tuning, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft Exchange Server (2010, 2013, 2016, Exchange Online) architecture, as well as supporting common e-mail client applications as an escalation point for our Desktop Support group
    • Administering and supporting Active Directory, DNS, and Microsoft Exchange replication
    • Facilitating electronic communication practices and e-mail interchange in accordance with organization policies and regulations
    • Administering Microsoft Lync 2013 and Skype for Business Online
    • Producing appropriate documentation for application deployment, configuration, and related processes
    • Administering Veritas Enterprise Vault, including Discovery Accelerator and Compliance Accelerator
    • Helping to manage backups via Commvault and providing a comprehensive disaster recovery plan for e-mail and other critical services
    • Implementing security and antispam techniques and procedures, as well as monitoring and minimizing system abuse and responding to complaints when necessary
    • Monitoring Delivery Status Notification (DSN) and SMTP session logs to diagnose delivery errors, error codes, and messaging disruption issues
    • Tracking system accountability metrics using standard tools and identifying conflicts with SMTP infrastructure and network policy protocols

    • 3–4 years of independent working experience
    • Intimate proficiency with Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, 2013, 2016
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Exchange Online, Microsoft Lync 2013, and Skype for Business Online
    • Experience with Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 2016 administration and troubleshooting in a large-scale, multisite environment
    • In-depth knowledge of virtualization, networking, routing, security, and data center operations
    • Experience with Proofpoint e-mail protection
    • Hardware knowledge, including routers, servers, switches, firewalls, SANS, and other security technologies
    • Experience with Veritas Enterprise Vault, including Discovery Accelerator and Compliance Accelerator
    • MCSE, MCSA, and CCNA certifications
    • ITIL/Six Sigma certification preferred
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
