    Joe Deitch is a financial industry icon and the founder of Commonwealth Financial Network, a premier Registered Investment Adviser - Independent Broker/Dealer with assets under management of more than $150 billion. An innovative entrepreneur, Joe started Southworth Development, a golf and resort real estate company with award-winning properties in the US, the Bahamas, and Scotland. Additionally, he is a Tony Award-winning producer for his work on the Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. Now, with the recent publication of his book, Elevate: An Essential Guide to Life, and the subsequent rollout of his $5 million philanthropic initiative—the Elevate Prize—we are seeking a content writer to help extend both the Elevate brand and Joe’s personal brand as a key figure of empowerment and personal development across both business and philanthropic spaces.

     

    The ideal candidate is first a great storyteller who loves both writing and editing; has a flexible style that can adapt to the established “voice” of our founder; is able to conduct research to understand the objectives and educational needs of target audiences; and is comfortable in both print and online media. Equally as important, the ideal candidate should have an entrepreneurial marketing spirit, with an ability to both identify new marketing opportunities and collaborate with existing marketing, social media, and public relations team members.

     

    Key responsibilities

    • Working closely with Joe to understand his philosophy and distilling his lessons into right-size communications for a range of media
    • Creating communications to promote Joe, Elevate, and the Elevate prize across digital media platforms (social media, blog, etc.); projects to include:
      • Programmatic advertising and target modeling
      • Targeted content distribution (e.g., LinkedIn InMail/sponsored content)
      • Influencer marketing across social channels
    • Ensuring that all communications deliver a consistent brand experience in Joe’s established voice
    • Assisting Commonwealth’s Editorial team in editing/revising other brand-focused communications for the firm’s corporate blog and bimonthly magazine, as time allows

    Core strengths

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or Communications
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a copy/content writer
    • A creative thinker with an ability to create new content and marketing ideas, both independently and as part of a team brainstorm
    • Ability to think strategically and adapt plans to meet changing needs and audience feedback
    • Exceptional verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work both independently and with senior management to collaborate, influence, and negotiate
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
    • Proponent of good writing standards and practices; keen awareness of appropriate tone and content
    • Obsessive attention to detail
    • Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style a plus
    • Knowledge of financial services industry a plus
