  • Overview

    The Project Management Office (PMO) at Commonwealth facilitates the transparent, efficient flow of firm initiatives in accordance with the strategic vision of the firm, as well as provides guidance and education on effective project management practices. To our team of four, we are looking to bring on an experienced, goal-driven project manager. The right candidate for this opportunity will have an agile mindset, as well as be an adept problem-solver and a skilled communicator.


    This role will have you working with a project sponsor or product owner (or both)—taking responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects and ensuring consistency with the company’s strategy, commitments, and goals.


    Key responsibilities

    • Facilitating the definition of the project scope, milestones, goals, and deliverables
    • Partnering with business stakeholders, when needed, to develop business cases, process flows, and requirements
    • Building consensus with senior cross-department stakeholders, presenting status to executives
    • Defining project tasks and resource requirements from various in-house teams
    • Developing project plans at the task, milestone, and resource level
    • Collaborating with project sponsors or product owners to break the project into proper phases and clearly identify deliverables for each phase
    • Tracking project against plan—anticipating events that may require a contingency plan, recommending corrective action, and ensuring that stakeholders are kept informed
    • Providing management, direction, and support to the project team
    • Managing multiple small-to-medium projects or a large project or program
    • Working with Scrum or project teams as needed to get the project(s) completed

    Core strengths

    • Business analysis experience
    • Familiarity with Scrum
    • Experience working independently, as well as in a team-oriented collaborative environment
    • Strong, clear communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
    • Ability to run and facilitate meetings with executives
    • Adept at conforming to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
    • Persuasive, adaptable, encouraging, and motivating

    Additional skills and knowledge

    • 5+ years of project management experience
    • Financial services industry experience
