    Do you enjoy tinkering with other people’s writing to help them communicate their ideas in a clear and engaging way? Do you ask smart questions? Are you willing to do a little digging to find the answers? Do you also possess the rare skill of being able to dot every “i” and cross every “t” in a document? What about ensuring that every comma, colon, dash, and semicolon is in place? Are you an excellent speller? Do you know when to use an en dash versus an em dash?


    Commonwealth is looking for a highly skilled line editor to join our busy Editorial team. From conference materials, to magazine articles and blog posts, to investment commentary, and more, you will help ensure that the writing is topnotch and every deliverable error free.


    Key responsibilities

    • Line editing a variety of materials, including educational articles, blog posts, market commentaries, and other content written by our in-house subject-matter experts and/or content team targeted at both advisors and their clients
    • Editing, formatting, and disseminating advisor e-mail communications
    • Ensuring that all communications deliver a consistent brand experience in the established Commonwealth “voice”

    Core strengths

    • Exceptional grasp of the English language and good writing practices
    • Excellent command of proofreader’s marks
    • Ability to multitask  
    • Comfortable working independently
    • Ability to focus in a fast-paced and sometimes noisy environment

    Additional skills and knowledge

    • BS/BA in English preferred
    • Minimum 4 years of line and copyediting experience
    • Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style a plus
    • Familiarity with and experience editing financial-related material a plus
