As a business analyst, you will use your creativity on a daily basis while working to help design, develop, and deliver the most modern and efficient tools and business solutions. Your analytical mindset will help our team in our top areas of focus, including the development and support of internal systems, as well as third-party applications; product management; business systems analysis; software quality assurance and automation; development operations; database analysis and development; release management; cloud platform solution architecture; web development; and UI/UX design.


Key Responsibilities

  • Working with Scrum teams responsible for the design and implementation of Commonwealth’s applications and solutions
  • Gathering and documenting business requirements; going above and beyond to understand the client’s complete business needs and putting a plan into action
  • Meeting with subject-matter experts to identify and document all system requirements
  • Taking information from client meetings and putting it into system requirement documents and user stories for the Development team
  • Collaborating with other members of the Technology department to develop project documentation, UI design, and other key artifacts
  • Conducting walk-throughs of all completed specifications with the team to ensure that the documentation is complete and development estimates are accurate
  • Serving as the main liaison between business users and the Development staff to verify that all requirements are met on schedule; communicating business requirement changes to business users
  • Working with vendors to implement new systems or modify tools we currently use
  • Providing creative technology solutions to our company’s business problems
  • Completing and distributing documentation on time

Core Strengths

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with constant changes and deadlines
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings
  • Comfortable working independently, but also an adaptable team player
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Visio; ability to learn new applications with a solid understanding of technology
  • Creative and detail-oriented problem solver
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Previous experience with TFS or Jira a plus

Additional Skills and Knowledge 

  • At least 5 years of experience in business analysis and Agile requirements definition for IT systems
  • Experience in Scrum and Agile development process
  • Experience with Data Pipelines, Master Data Management and Data Warehousing
  • Financial services background a plus
  • Experience with all stages of a project life cycle, including planning, analysis, design, construction, and testing
  • Azure Data Factory, Profisee and Snowflake experience a plus
  • Project management experience a plus
