Overview

Are you a natural at finding and implementing quality process improvements? The Quality group at Commonwealth is seeking a quality assurance (QA) engineer with user interface (UI), web services, application programming interface (API), and automation experience to help us release high quality software in a timely manner.

 

As a QA engineer, you will manage complex projects and work closely with other QA engineers, automation engineers, developers, offshore team members, and stakeholders to document test plans and strategies, create and review test cases, write automated test cases, and report on results in a Microsoft environment. You will work in a fast-paced environment, so the ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects and deliver on time is essential.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Documenting test plans and estimates during sprint planning
  • Building test cases, running functional and regression tests, and documenting results for sprints
  • Developing and maintaining UI test automation using behavior-driven development (BDD) framework
  • Applying automated execution and validation methods to improve and ensure software quality
  • Partnering closely with product owners, development leads, and business analysts to understand requirements and appropriate use cases, including new features, functionality enhancement, and bug fixes
  • Supplementing existing automated test suites with appropriate regression tests
  • Running daily regression suites and analyzing results; reporting defects to project teams as they are identified
  • Collecting and effectively communicating sprint testing metrics

Core Strengths

  • Ability to author test plans and test cases (BDD framework is a plus)
  • Proficiency with SQL and writing SQL queries
  • Applicable experience working with API testing and tools
  • Agile project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Well organized and self-motivated
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills 

Additional Skills and Knowledge

  • 3+ years of QA experience supporting functional, integration, and automation testing
  • Experience with SharePoint and PowerShell scripting is a plus
  • Relevant financial services experience
  • Well-developed understanding of source control and bug-tracking systems (GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence)
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language
