Our Practice Management department is searching for an associate consultant to conduct introductory consulting engagements and support complex engagements as part of our dynamic and growing business consulting team. The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver, an analytical thinker, a strong communicator, and a team player.

The Practice Management team serves as a strategic partner to Commonwealth advisors and their staff, helping them build healthy and growing businesses. The team provides consulting and programs to support advisors across a broad range of business issues, including:

  • Scale and efficiency

In this role, you will conduct introductory consulting engagements independently with advisors and their firms across a wide range of needs. You will also work collaboratively to support seasoned business consultants on more complex engagements, helping them with preparation, delivery, and follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Helping consultants to deliver:
    • Client engagements from inception through completion by assisting with meeting preparation, researching background information, communicating with clients, performing analytics, and managing logistics
    • Business review engagements with top clients by drafting meeting summaries for distribution to the internal leadership team, following up on opportunities to engage with the advisor’s firm, and aligning additional resources at Commonwealth
  • Shadowing consultants during discussions, taking detailed notes, and providing input as needed
  • Managing follow-up responsibilities, special projects, and client communications for the engagement and tracking of ongoing engagement progress
  • Supporting data analytics projects to drive the team’s strategic decisions, including analyzing client-specific context and strengthening thought leadership content
  • Assisting consultants with projects and research initiatives to enhance advisor resources and thought leadership
  • Organizing and preparing site visits for consultants by observing and participating in visits, taking thorough notes, and managing follow-up items (periodic travel possible when resumed by Commonwealth)
  • Aiding in the development of processes and procedures to increase departmental efficiencies

This position is ideally suited for someone who is building a career in business consulting as this role is a step on the professional development path to consultant and senior consultant. As part of our recipe for success, we believe an outstanding onboarding experience can lead to a fulfilling career at Commonwealth.
