Overview

As our ERISA governance manager, you will help support Commonwealth’s suite of retirement solutions by leveraging your strong attention to detail, project management skills, and expertise working with ERISA. You will be a crucial contributor to the success of Commonwealth’s retirement business, ensuring that defined contribution or benefit retirement plans are compliant with all ERISA regulations.

 

Additionally, you will build relationships with the industry’s best independent financial advisors, offering consulting and assistance in your areas of expertise.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Applying ERISA concepts to Commonwealth’s business policies and procedures
  • Seeking opportunities and implementing changes to enhance workflows and overall service delivery within the Retirement Consulting team
  • Collaborating with a wide array of internal partners, including client service, product development, operations, risk management, legal, and compliance to drive visible operational procedures and an ERISA-inclusive mindset across departments
  • Working with external contacts, including custodians, recordkeepers, fund managers, and technology vendors to support Commonwealth’s business requirements and drive efficient workflow
  • Addressing and resolving issues with the appropriate internal and external parties, inclusive of root cause analysis
  • Reviewing policies, standards, and procedures and making recommendations

Additional Skills and Knowledge 

  • 5+ years of related experience in supporting defined contribution or defined benefit retirement plans or retirement plan advisors
  • Firsthand knowledge and experience working with either defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, or ERISA guidelines
  • Preferred credentials: Accredited Investment Fiduciary®, Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist℠, Certified 401(k) Professional, Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor, Qualified Plan Financial Consultant, Qualified 401(k) Administrator, Chartered Financial Analyst®, Certified Investment Management Analyst®
