Overview

Do you enjoy helping businesses tell their story in unique and compelling ways? Do you have the magic touch that can persuade audiences to engage with a brand and take desired actions? We’re looking for a marketing writer to join our busy team and help our national RIA–broker/dealer improve our lead-generation funnel, attracting qualified financial advisors through content and convincing them to affiliate with our firm. You will work with content strategists, campaign specialists, and content leaders in Marketing as well as subject-matter experts from across the firm to better understand our audience and craft the content that will meet advisors where they are. This job requires strong strategic thinking, insight, ideation, and communication skills.

 

The ideal candidate is someone who understands the big picture—and why and how individual pieces fit into the larger story; someone who can understand our target audience segments and communicate with them using practical, benefits-driven prose; and someone who is comfortable writing for digital platforms.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Understanding pain points and aspirations of our target audience segments
  • Working with cross-functional team members to identify key messages and develop ideas and concepts to speak to those segments
  • Presenting concepts to SMEs and leadership for further development and approval
  • Writing for a variety of channels: video, social media, email, landing pages, ads, white papers
  • Implementing SEO best practices for written content (on-page and off-page SEO)
  • Juggling multiple creative projects

Core strengths

  • Enthusiastic proponent of good writing standards and practices across multiple channels; keen awareness of appropriate tone and content
  • Exceptional listening skills and emotional intelligence
  • Creativity and an ability to think outside the box
  • Proven track record of being able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and prioritize accordingly
  • Understanding of digital marketing and SEO
  • Ability to work collaboratively

Additional skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, literature, journalism, or related field
  • 5+ years B2B writing experience
  • Knowledge of financial services industry
  • Demonstrated ability to write effective communications
  • Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working within content management systems
  • Experience working with creative agencies preferred
