We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DevOps cloud engineer with experience in both AWS and Azure to join our dynamic cloud team. In this role, you will be responsible for powering Commonwealth’s mission of migrating applications and workloads to Public Cloud. Your primary task will include designing, implementing, and managing AWS/Azure cloud infrastructure code build pipelines. You will report to the cloud lead and contribute to all cloud-related projects. Your experience in managing cloud and software engineering teams, along with a proven track record of delivering leading-edge technology infrastructure, is essential for success in this role.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design, implement, and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline solutions to support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments.
  • Develop automated processes for the infrastructure build pipeline and the infrastructure release/deploy pipeline.
  • Perform as-needed deployments to development environments and scheduled deployments to internal validation environments and all production environments.
  • Develop automated processes and procedures for initial environment configuration, including infrastructure automation.
  • Use, communicate, and enforce coding standards.
  • Seek and participate in personal development opportunities to maintain a detailed knowledge of industry standards, engineering best practices, and business needs.
  • Provide technical support, address bug fixes, and implement enhancements to applications in production within defined service-level agreement.
  • Collaborate with multiple organizational departments in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
  • Adhere to development processes and workflows.
  • Focus on operational excellence, emphasizing the service management and DevOps approach to achieve agility, scale, and efficiency.
  • Establish Azure and AWS architectural standards and design automation for cloud infrastructure (Infrastructure as Code), collaborating with technology partners for optimal cloud system implementations.
  • Ensure the implementation of security policies, compliance requirements, and Azure/AWS best practices across all projects.
  • Attract, retain, and develop highly effective professionals and support staff.
  • Partner with security and application teams to ensure secure infrastructure that meets the company's needs.

Core Strengths and Skills

  • Experience building scalable cloud infrastructure and processes.
  • Experience in CI/CD and applying the DevOps mindset and principles.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience working in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience with continuous integration platforms, with a preference for specific tools.
  • Experience with the following tools and technologies is preferred:
    • AWS & Azure Cloud
    • Terraform
    • Ansible
    • Azure DevOps
    • SonarQube
    • Jenkins
    • GitHub
    • Docker
    • Python
  • Experience with version-control systems and work-management systems such as Azure DevOps or other tools preferred.
  • Capable of problem identification and resolutions.
  • Ability to learn from others and adapt to standards.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of client/server and internet systems architectures.
  • Ability to work in a team or with multiple organizational departments in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience educating stakeholders on the impact of cloud configuration decisions.

Additional Skills and Knowledge 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or comparable field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: IT, information security, computer science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in software development or QA experience
  • Strong ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.
