We’re looking for a senior marketing consultant to join our ranks. The role sits within our Consulting Solutions Team which provides expert consultation to help Commonwealth’s more than 2000 independent financial advisors grow their businesses. Our turnkey and custom marketing and branding services, education, and marketing strategies and plans provide solutions for all levels of advisor marketing goals and desired investment. This role will serve as an advisor-facing, consultative partner and will be responsible for advisor consultations with prospects and affiliated advisors, curating marketing strategies and plans for firms, and auditing existing data and marketing efforts. You will work closely with advisors to understand their business objectives, create customized marketing strategies and plans, and identify the right tactics and outsourced partners to support execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meeting in person with pre-affiliated prospects and affiliated advisors in home office visits (HOVs)
  • Building trusted partnerships with advisors and colleagues
  • Consulting with financial advisors to gain an in-depth understanding of their businesses, target markets, growth goals, and marketing needs
  • Auditing and evaluating advisors’ existing marketing efforts and provide recommendations to optimize strategies, positioning, key messages, etc.
  • Identifying and gathering critical data to inform marketing consultations and strategies
  • Developing comprehensive marketing strategies and plans aligned with advisors’ strategic priorities to attract new clients and assets
  • Guiding advisors on branding, content marketing, digital marketing, social media, client communications, and other marketing initiatives
  • Matching advisors with best-fit vendors to execute components of their marketing plans with a keen understanding of budget and timing
  • Staying up to date on market research, industry marketing trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliant and impactful strategies
  • Managing projects that are moving quickly and in different directions seamlessly
  • Executing strategic tasks, monitor outcomes, and assess long-term marketing strategy ROI
  • Potential for leadership growth in the future overseeing Account Management team

Core Strengths and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in a senior marketing and/or advertising position (ad agency experience preferred)
  • Exceptional consultative abilities and people skills to build trust with advisors (demonstrated experience as marketing consultant or similar role a plus)
  • Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to translate business goals into actionable marketing roadmaps
  • Comfortable writing strategies and plans, developing client presentation pieces, and participating in advisor presentations
  • Self-driven with strong project management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of data analysis, market research, marketing principles, and best practices
  • Able to effectively and creatively write proposals, reports, and PPT presentations
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically
  • Proficient in MS Office/Working knowledge of IT and marketing software (e.g. Work Front, Sales Force)
  • Persuasive communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills
